In 2016, when I decided to make accessories from my paintings I had no idea how to create brand, but I wanted that not only my accessories but also the name and was noticeable and memorable. I’m not a graphic designer and I have never had experience in this field, but I think when you want to make something really hard, you can do anything. Therefore, I started. I wanted my brand to have a style, as I had a painting style, which I call abstract surrealism.
I started research how to start creating brand. After watching lot videos on YouTube and reading various post I found out that first thing you have to do is to describe you brand with adjectives, think about costumers and target audience, and the main thing you need to have is MOOD BOARD.
I wanted my brand to be bright, colourful, fresh, for people who wants to be distinctive.
First thing that I did I started searching images, with the mood and colours that I feel when I was thinking about my brand. I made board on Pinterest, and after that, I have chosen some of them, which I liked the most. I created MOOD BOARD.Then I made a logo. I sketched it with pencil; I have not made many variations, maybe because I liked it at the first sight. Inspiration for logo was my drawings and paintings. I vectorise sketch and add color. The mood board gave me the sense of the brand and helped me to choose colors. The logo that I had gave me the sense of shapes that I wanted to use in blog or covers for various sites. After all this I made BRAND BOARD – which will help me with any project related to brand – Lancasta. This is hole story how I made my brand, most helpful in all this was Holly Casto’s video about building brand.
Hope you enjoyed my post, leave me your thoughts, and if you have post with same content link it in comments, I’m very interested in this field.
